Meet Your Doula-Hali Hemingway <3
It's time for another fun post from one of our labor and postpartum doulas, Hali! In all honesty, everyone should know this woman.
1. What is your favorite piece of clothing you own?
My favorite piece of clothing that I own is a kimono with elephants on it. I love kimonos and I LOVE elephants! I always walk a little taller when I wear that thing.
2. What job would you be terrible at?
A job that I would be terrible at is accounting! Paperwork scares me, I could never sit still long enough to do the work that is required, and numbers and I just do not get along.
3. If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?
If I could turn any activity into an Olympic sport & have a good chance at winning a medal in it, I think I would choose lawn mowing. I love mowing the lawn so much, and I think I really have it mastered. No tall pieces of grass left behind.
4. What skill would you like to master?
A skill I would love to master is cooking! I think it would be so fun to be able to cook absolutely anything and it taste delicious every time.
5. When people come to you for help what do they usually want help with?
When people come to me for help it is usually either to get advice for an issue they might be struggling with, or asking if I can help them clean or organize something. ;)
6. What do you wish you knew more about?
I wish I knew more about space and planets. They have always been so fascinating and completely mind boggling to me.
7. What are some small things that make your day better?
There are lots of small things that make my day better! Looking at/smelling flowers, hearing birds sing, walking into my bathroom after I’ve cleaned it, sunshine, iced coffee. I could go on and on.
8. Who's your go to band/artist when you can't decide on something to listen to?
CHRISTMAS MUSIC! Every. Single. Time.
9. What shows are you into?
The shows that I am most into are funny, easy to watch, light, and with a little bit of romance here and there. Think “Friends” for example- (most favorite show on this planet. I’ve watched it 7 times though & can pretty much quote all 10 seasons word for word).
10. What is your favorite genre of movie or book?
My favorite genres of books and movies are romances, comedies, or my most favorite…romantic comedies!
11. As the only human left on earth, what would you do?
As the only human left on earth, I think I would curl up in a little ball and cry! I do enjoy quiet, alone time here and there, but I love being around people and just can’t imagine being all by myself forever.
12. What do you wish your brain was better at doing?
I wish my brain was better at doing math. Numbers and I just do not understand each other.
13. What is one of your favorite smells?
I have so many favorite smells, but two of my very favorites are lavender essential oil, and my grandma’s house.
14. What gets you fired up?
I am quite passionate and get fired up about a lot of different things. A few of these things are conforming to the norm and being like everyone else because of fear of being different, wasting your life, judgmental people, slavery, littering, abuse to animals, abuse to humans.
15. What's the best thing you got from your parents?
The best things I got from my parents is the ability to talk to people, and accept them for who they are. Both of my parents are good at these things and I am so thankful that they instilled these qualities into me.
How fun is it to get to know more about the women who may be walking alongside you during such an important time in your life? Bringing home your baby or welcoming him or her into the world is a time that you should be around people who will support any choice you make.
